The Second Wave of Covid-19 Lockdown in 2021

As the CORONA positive cases are rising day by day, the government doesn’t have any other choice rather than to impose a lockdown. India reported the highest cases on April 12, 2021. There are 11 states and union territories, which have crossed the highest daily cases such as Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Delhi, Nasik, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Thane, Raipur, and Aurangabad. Covid-19 Lockdown in 2021 has started, We need prevent it by spreading.

There are around 15 Million fresh cases and 1,79,000 deaths till now. The government first imposed a night curfew then a weekend curfew and now a week Lockdown in Delhi from 19th April to April 26, 2021.

The hospitals are facing a shortage of beds, oxygen therapy, ventilators, and ECMO [Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation] devices. Due to lack of beds patients are forced to share beds in hospitals. Many people took this to the social media platform seeking help.

In the national capital; Delhi, things aren’t any different. Delhi is revolving around the fourth wave of COVID-19. The CM also said that “Restrictions which are imposing today is necessary for the welfare of Delhi.” As of April 20, 2021, a lockdown has been imposed to curb the spread of the virus. 

Every fourth sample is turning out to be COVID positive. Outside the cemeteries, lines of dead bodies can be found. Likewise, in some areas, one can find bodies lying in different parts of the city. Families have to wait for hours to perform the last rites.

Due to the rising cases, the exams such as JEE, NEET, KCET, WBJEE, AP EAMCET, TS EAMCET, CLAT, and CBSE board exams of class 10th are canceled, and class 12th postponed. By hearing the news of this lockdown, many people start returning to their hometowns who came to the cities in search of work. Lines of dead bodies found on roads and outside the cemetery. 

The central government announced that people who are above the age of 18 will get covid vaccinated from May 01, 2021. One anti-viral drug called ‘Remdesivir Injection‘ is used for the treatment of covid-19 diseases for Mostly oxygen problems in hospitals to the adults and children aged 12 years and whose weight is at least 40 kg. Due to the rise in corona cases, the demand for this drug increased. The covid patients are pleading on social media for Remdesivir Injection. Because of the Shortage of Remdesivir Injections, the government banned the export of this drug. Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, and Telangana are facing a vital shortage of Remdesivir Injections. According to a report, it is found that this drug costs between INR 4,000 to INR 5,000 depending on the brand, but the people doing black marketing selling it for INR 10,000 to INR 20,000. The injection couldn’t be found in medical stores to avoid black marketing.

The middle-class family in India does not have enough savings which they can spend during this lockdown. People who work here on daily wages will suffer the most as they don’t have money to buy commodities. To add to that, people are stuck in a situation where they have no jobs and a bleak future. 

Migrant workers and laborers have decided to go back home as they prefer not to be stranded in the national capital. This alarming state and increasing COVID cases have created havoc all over India. 

In Uttar Pradesh, the Allahabad Night Court has made some significant statements that highlight the capability of the government. Even after a yet of experience, the government has been struggling to help citizens with adequate medical help. The other States are also considering imposing a lockdown.

However, in Bengal, CM Banerjee mentions that she currently has no plans for a lockdown.

As the coronavirus is hitting us so hard, we as a citizen of India need to understand our duties and stay at home. In such a case, lockdowns are unavoidable and necessary. It is crucial to curb the spread of the virus and only step out in case of emergencies.
